Donner is one of those names that carry a strong amount of authority in the guitar pedal and accessory world, so it is no surprise that the best compressor pedal comes from them. This pedal features multiple sound modes, the best circuitry in the industry, beautiful tone, and a robust aluminum alloy build, all of which make it the best compressor pedal around.
Easy-to-use tone, compression, and Tlevel knobs are in place to ensure that you can adjust the sound to your liking. There are also two different sound modes: normal and treble compression. We love this pedal because it provides the perfect amount of adjustment options without making it too complicated for on-the-fly changes. No matter what kind of settings you use, this compression pedal still provides a full and beautiful tone.
The consistent and full tone offered by this pedal can be largely attributed to its high-end circuitry which has been completely optimized and revamped specifically for the electric guitar. However, if you are not playing on an electric guitar (which seems very unlikely), this may not be the best of the best. What we do know for sure is that, when it comes to electric guitars, this is the best compressor pedal, period.
Due to a true bypass design and superior circuitry, this Donner pedal gives you a beautiful perfectly retained original guitar tone at its best with all the improvements you desire and without the changes you don’t.
With such circuitry and a beautiful design, it would be madness to slack when it comes to the casing. The aluminum alloy outer body is stable and robust with a beautiful blue coating. It is also important to note that this pedal runs on a DC 9V power supply. A 9V battery is likely your best bet to power this thing, and it should last you a good while.
For those looking for only the best compressor pedal, look no further. When you order this beautiful pedal from Donner, you will also get to experience its world-class packaging that is unmatched by any other guitar pedal manufacturer.
Joyo Jf-10 Dynamic Compressor Guitar AMP Effect Pedal True Bypass
- Guitar Effect Pedal
- Dynamic Compressor
- Profession Guitar AMP and Effect Pedal
- CE and RoSH Certify
When we got our hands on the Joyo JF-10 Dynamic Compressor pedal, we couldn’t find anything not to love. Straight out of the box we immediately noticed the robust aluminum alloy casing. This is definitely one of the most well-built guitar pedals. The only plastic piece is the battery compartment cover located on the back of the device which we can’t imagine breaking or being an issue. On the top of the pedal are 3 knobs: sustain, attack, and level, all of which are extremely well made with a quality that you can hear and feel.
Only time will tell if this pedal will last, but we strongly hope and believe that it will. If it does, then for around $30, this is one of the best compressor pedal deals we have ever seen.
The Joyo JF-10 Compressor pedal is only a few dollars cheaper than the Donner, and whether the difference in price resembles the difference in quality is questionable. What we do know for certain is that we prefer the Donner compressor pedal, which is only a couple of bucks (at most) more expensive.
Overall, this compressor pedal from Joyo is a great runner up to the Donner pedal and lives up to be one of the best compressor pedals we have ever seen. For the price, this compression pedal is an amazing deal.
KOKKO FCP2 Mini Compressor Pedal Portable Guitar Effect Pedal
- Fully analog circuit.
- A broader adjustable range.
- True bypass.
- Powered by AC adapter.
- Rubber pads on the backside is anti-skid, which enhances the stability and avoids friction between the effect pedal and the ground.
This is an extremely cheap pedal manufactured in China, but don’t be fooled into thinking that they are not of great quality, because we have nothing but good to say about these pedals. After testing all of the best compressor pedals ranging from 15 to 100 dollars, this pedal was able to keep up with some of the more expensive name brand models that we compared it to. This is a compressor that will fairly heavily squash your dynamics to bring out the quieter notes while limiting the volume of the louder notes along with chords.
When you turn the sustain all the way up, it is surprising how loudly the lightly-plucked notes sounds opposed to the loud strumming of a chord. This leaves shredders and soloists with a great sound. The attack knob adjusts how much the note is compressed initially which can either give you a very loud initial note or a more evenly distributed volume depending on the settings you use.
Once we know that this pedal can provide great sound, we then were skeptical to look at the build quality. Luckily, we were very surprised with what this pedal had to offer us. The jacks, and even the battery jack (9v), were both very firmly mounted to the casing. All of the knobs and switched felt extremely sturdy as well and are easily comparable to those on the Donner compression pedal. These knobs work very well and while some users have noted that they are made from plastic rather than metal, if you get the pedal with this in mind and be cautious not to be too rough with it, we can’t see you ever having an issue with breakage.
Overall, this is one of the best compression pedals and works wonders for those on a budget.
